View the simply stunning White Cliffs – famous throughout the world and the inspiration for Shakespeare and Vera Lynn amongst many others. The National Trust Gateway Building introduces the visitor to the five miles of coast and overlooks the straights of Dover, an excellent place to watch the world’s busiest shopping lanes - our  own 'nautical airport'!  Afterwards take a walk and discover the fascinating wildlife along this part of the coast. Rich in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with Countryside events and guided walks a regular feature throughout the year - dont miss White Cliffs Walking Festival during August

Dover in the heart of White Cliffs Country has Walkers are Welcome  accreditation and fabulous walking trails from short walks over cliffs and through beautiful countryside - to those walking trails for the experienced walker. National Trails for North Downs Way and Englands Coastal Path. 

 

Via Francigena - the ancient pilgrims' route from England through mainland Europe to Rome - starting at the Cathedral City of Canterbury - your first stop is here in Dover and we have our 'passport stamp' at the ready!
